Zoo Animals..

yesterday was a lot of fun.. and our membership has already paid for itself after two visits. I am so glad that I got it when I did and I think it might be an annual thing from now on. Perhaps a Christmas present to the kids. It's nice to go and not feel like you have to see everything all in one day. Today must have been a good day for the animals, because they were all out and about, which is something I've rarely seen. Our first stop was the sea lions.. the kids always get a kick out of watching them swim all around.

Houston Zoo

although today they seemed a bit thirsty..

Thirsty?

poor Katelynn's voice was just about gone after we left the zoo..

Calling the Animals

and because I am such a dork.. LIONS..

Houston Zoo

TIGERS..

Houston Zoo

and BEARS.. OH MY!! ;)

Houston Zoo

it was so neat watching all the lions run around and play with one another, everytime we go they are asleep!

Houston Zoo

he didn't want to leave..

Jacob

and of course we don't go to the zoo and not feed the giraffes.. that's my favorite part!

Feeding Giraffes

and ride the carousel.. daddy does this, not mommy. It's like the ride that never ends.. round & round.. and please excuse my son in the second picture looking like he's licking the pole, he's not, but I sure as heck wouldn't put it past him. ;)

Carousel

and daddy loaded them up on sugar, not me. I'm well aware of the side effects. LOL.

Cotton Candy

it was a great way to end a long weekend and much better than we started. Although now my allergies are seeming to get the best of me, ugh. I just need to get through the next three days and then it'll be time for another fun weekend. I hear we have some warmer weather coming our way, I'll take it!

Happy Tuesday!

Perfect Weather..

Okay, so mr. sun must have gotten our message, because yesterday was the nicest day we've had in a very long time! It was perfect! It felt so good getting out of the house and soaking up the sun. I am already feeling ten times better just getting out of the house. We made a couple different stops yesterday hitting up a few favorite parks.

No Swimming

the kids were spotting every mino in the water..

Lake View

this guy is something else.. he needed the outdoors more than any of us. ;)

Jacob

of course we don't go to a park without a little playtime..

WEE!!

I love this shot.. caught him in action and was being sneaky!

Hi Mommy!

we later hit up the duck park.. my son must have thought the bread was a baseball or something because he was throwing past the ducks and Katelynn was getting mad. LOL.

Feeding Ducks

my pretty girl.. I am so glad she never got sick like we did.

Sweet Girl

all in all it was a nice Sunday and a much better way to spend the weekend. Today we are off to the zoo with friends and it looks to be another nice day out. I am just glad to be off work and spending the time with my family. Hopefully we can end this weekend on a much better note than we started.

Happy Monday!

Rough Start..

So this extended weekend has not gone according to plan, but I think we are almost in the clear (fingers crossed). It started Thursday night with my son not feeling well and only turning worse on Friday. Saturday it moved it's way over to me and we all know how it goes when mama is sick. I am just thankful to wake up this morning and feel some what normal again. At least if we had to pick a weekend to be stuck inside, we picked a good one. The weather has been horrible, so it would have made doing anything other than staying home a task. I am hoping no one else gets sick and we can get some sunshine. I think being out of this house and getting some fresh air would do us all some good. Now we just need the weather to be on the same page. ;)

I did notice my flowers while being home all this time.. they were all in full bloom and smelling wonderful.

Happy Sunday!

Rain, Rain Go Away..

This week we have experienced some nasty weather (grey skies & rain) and today looks to be no different. I'm really hoping the weather shifts by this weekend. My kiddos love to be outside, so this week has been tough. Lots of broken crayons, missing puzzle pieces and many visits to time out. Geez, I would give anything for summer. LOL. We did get one day where the sun gave us a little tease, so the kiddos and I rushed home to enjoy it. It didn't last long, but we're not complaining, something is better than nothing right? My daughter wanted to ride her scooter, while my son opted for his basketball, something as of late he won't put down. In fact he was showing me how it's done, click here to watch. Just excuse my high-pitch happy mommy voice, it comes with the territory!

Happy Thursday!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope everyone had a wonderful day yesterday.. mine was quite pleasant. I got a surprise visit from the hubby at work, which is a really big deal. I work far from home, so that was extra sweet and I enjoyed our lunch. I got my first homemade Valentine from Katelynn, which literally had me tearing up.. yes, I am that mom. The one that will be front and center with the camera right smack in the middle of her face at every school play. LOL. At least I can admit it, even though I vowed to not be that mom. Boy am I eating my words already. I seem to be doing that a lot with age. Dang it.

After work the kids and I made a stop for some flowers and other goodies to surprise a few special people. I love Valentine's day.. the candy, the flowers, just everything! I wish it could be Valentine's every day, as I think it should be! And my kiddos would happily agree..not only did I spoil them, but daddy came home with a little something too! We enjoyed a family dinner out at a local pizza parlor and ended the night with some mommy/daddy one-on-one time, a few guilty pleasures and a chocolate hangover! ;)

Happy Wednesday!

Early Birthday Surprise..

These past few days have been keeping me pretty busy and then I was out of town most of this weekend. You see the husband surprised me with an early birthday present.. (my actual birthday isn't until the 24th) I have to say SURPRISE and acually mean it, because let me just tell you nothing really gets past me. Ever. I always figure everything out. Except this time. This time was different and I have to say it felt great! I was in totally shock and it really threw me for a loop. I was thinking we were going to the horsetrack with a couple of friends and family, just a fun adult date night thing. So here's how it went down.. I must document this one for sure. ;)

My sister and brother-in-law met up at our place, so we could all ride together. We get about a mile down the street when my sister hands me a card. I should have thought something right then and there, but slow me didn't even think twice, I just thought, that was nice. I open it to read this.. and yes, it still took me a minute to put two and two together, which I know was killing them all. LOL.

You see the Coushatta Bound at the bottom?? That's what threw me for a loop.. it was so funny and they totally pulled it off. I was very impressed. It gets better.. they say we aren't coming back tonight either!! I was like what the heck?? I didn't even pack my bags or anything. That's when the husband told me he did it for me! And that right there almost sent me into a full blown heart attack, for many reasons. ;)

It was such a fun night and I am so thankful for everything he did and planned. It was truly very sweet of him to get everyone together and book hotels and such. And it wasn't a bad night of gambling for me either.. I came home with what he gave me and then some, so I was a happy camper!

While we were away the kids seemed to be having their own fun with grandma & grandpa.. I'm sure they kept them super busy and entertained. We went to pick them up and the first thing they showed us was their work of art...

I really missed them both and was glad to see them. Jacob spent the night before with my mom, so it was really good to get caught up on kisses. The rest of our weekend has been pretty laid back.. we got out today to get Katelynn a haircut.. hard to believe she was a bald baby up until her first birthday. I think she's done great at playing catch-up.

We're off to bake Valentine cookies and gear up for the Grammy's!

Happy Sunday!

Mid-week Updates

I'm sure you're wondering what the heck we've been up to, so here's a quick re-cap of our week so far.. Friday I had someone come out and go over a few custom curtain ideas. Three hours later and I felt more confused than I did when we started. So yeah, I'm back to square one. Ugh!

after that whole experience the kids were ready to bust out of the house, so we grabbed a quick bite to eat with my mom and then did a little shopping. I got this wild idea to change out all the switch plates in the kitchen. I told you I can't walk into Lowe's and not get some kind of idea flaring. It's just down right impossible. Let's just say the husband liked them so much I was heading back up to Lowe's at 8:30 Friday night buying more. Can you guess how I spent my Friday night? ;) Let's just say I am an official light switch changing pro, watch out!

that night the kids made pizzas for dinner.. we were both pretty impressed.

we also hit up kirkland's on our little Friday shopping spree and I bought this piece of iron work. I knew exactly where it needed to go.. just had to do a little kissing up to the hubs to hang it for me right as he walked in the door from work. Remember, I'm very impatient. ;) The picture quality stinks, but you get the picture.

Saturday was pretty low key for the most part.. grabbed some lunch and did a few errands. You probably can't tell from this picture, but they were using their breadsticks as swords and were really having a good ol' time. I promise I do make them use table manners, but this is what happens when you catch me on a good day! LOL.

Sunday was game day. I got up met my sister for a big breakfast, hit up H-E-B, dropped off the goods and then went to get a much needed pedicure. Productive morning to say the least. We caught the game with a few friends and family members, pigged out and had a nice time chatting it up. Here's me with little man..

yesterday it was back to work, which was a little rough. I stayed up late watching the voice, which by the way is one of my favorite shows. I am soaking up this TV season, because I know it won't last long. Speaking of TV.. are there any Bachelor fans out there? Thoughts? Predictions? I've got my money on Kasie B. I did get around to baking these cuties for our TV watching. I just used the betty crocker peanut butter cookie mix and added red food coloring, nothing hard about that.

and while I was doing that the kids were outside burning some serious energy.

I think that pretty much sums up our last four days.

Happy Tuesday!
